How to spot a Fake Chanel handbag or purse

 
One of the most obvious signs of a counterfeit Chanel handbag or purse is a misspelling. Other common issues with fakes would be a bad stitching, sub-standard materials, packaging and details. Go over the label carefully to spot any discrepancies.

You know you will not get your dream Chanel handbag for that rock bot tom price so don’t ever feel tempted to check “in case it might be the real deal”.
 
Chanel purses and handbags are never made of lambskin, always calfskin. To tell the differences just feel the bag! If the leather is soft but elegant it is lambskin. Always look for an authorization tag. New Chanel handbags and purses have an eight digit code that you can register, but older ones have a six or seven digit code. Another give away is the CC icon. The top of the right C should over lap the left and the bot tom of the left C should over lap the right. Also look at the stitching. Look at the tag on your purse. If it is written in English but backwards (that's how the Chinese read) then it is fake. It should also say CHANEL France or Italy.

Often you will see a black bag. The real black bag is on the left - the fake on the right

Notice the writing is bigger on the fake bag, which is also bigger. The fake bag is just as black, by the way, and only looks lighter because it was photographed closer to the light source.

The real bag was also wrapped in its box with delicate tissue paper that had the word “Chanel” and the logo all through it. Hint - if the vendor is selling the box ask them if it still has the original Chanel tissue paper.

Notice the fake one is larger with a longer chain.

One difference was the crossing CC logos. On the real bag the CC lock emblem was raised, 3 dimensionally, whereas the fake bag the CC logo was flat. Real on the left and fake on the right:

The inside zipper of the fake had a gold CC medallion whereas the real one had leather in the zip. When comparing them side by side was the build quality and attention to detail is much, much better on the real one. Real on the left - fake on the right

One the inner flap is opened the logo on the real bag is raised, better stitching, and consistent width. The fake had flatter stitching and the width of the letters was not consistent. In both photos below, real is on the left and the fake on the right (the white at the bot tom is the tissue paper still protecting the real one):

The color of the red inner leather on the real bag was deeper:

The Chanel authenticity cards were slightly different, but if I didn't know the fake number on the fake card I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. The number of my original bag has been removed so that it cannot be used in other fakes.
